Are the Patriots a dangerous playoff team or are they in danger of an early postseason exit?

That’s the question, assuming they handle their business on Sunday against the Jaguars and clinch the AFC East crown.

There are undeniable issues right now with this Pats team. The all-everything quarterback is hurting. The star wide receiver seemingly has to be coddled in order to get anything out of him. A series of injuries have thinned the defense up front. And, as it turns out, they’re just plain thin in the defensive backfield.

Oh, and this team struggles to win on the road, which they’ll have to if they plan to advance deep in the postseason.

Other than that, everything’s fine in Foxboro. Thanks for asking.

The expectation coming into the season was high, even by Patriots standards. We were focusing too much on the offense, foolishly wondering aloud if they could top their 2007 numbers (guilty, as charged) without even stopping to consider two very important details:

1. Tom Brady needed time to recover from major knee surgery, and …
2. This season was more about transition than we initially thought.

So many out there in Patriots Nation counted on at least 13 wins and home field, even as they struggled through two weeks. So naturally, by those standards, 10 or 11 wins and a ho-hum AFC East title just seem disappointing. But 13 wins and an AFC East cakewalk weren’t in the cards, even from Day One.

The trade of Richard Seymour should have signaled to us, more than anything, that we needed to lower our expectations this season.

Looking ahead, there are serious questions about the Patriots that will need answering. Bill Belichick needs to get more from his drafts, and maybe more out of his coordinators too. The defense may need to move on from what now appears to be an outdated 3-4 scheme.

But when you take all of that into consideration, if this team ends up winning the division in a down year, how can you argue with that?

White Collar has been renewed for a second season, according to reports.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the programme’s creator and executive producer Jeff Eastin announced the news on his Twitter page.

White Collar is a USA Network crime comedy-drama television series created by Jeff Eastin, starring Matt Bomer as con-man Neal Caffrey and Tim DeKay as Special Agent Peter Burke. It premiered on October 23, 2009. White Collar concluded its Friday episodes on December 4 and is on a brief hiatus before returning on Tuesday evenings, beginning January 19, 2010.

Neal Caffrey (Matthew Bomer) is a con-man who was captured after a three-year game of cat-and-mouse. With three months left while serving a four-year sentence, he escapes from a maximum security federal prison to find Kate, his ex-girlfriend. Peter Burke, the FBI agent who captured Caffrey, catches him again. This time, Caffrey gives Burke information about evidence in another case; however, this information comes with a price: Burke must have a meeting with Caffrey. At this meeting, Caffrey proposes a deal: he will help Burke catch other criminals as part of a work-release program. Burke agrees, after some hesitation. Within a day of being released from prison, Caffrey already lives in one of the most expensive houses in Manhattan, after persuading an elderly widow to rent him her guest room. After catching the elusive Dutchman, Caffrey has proven to Burke that he will help him, and that he will not try to escape again. However, at the same time, Caffrey is still looking for Kate, whom he believes is in trouble.

Put on Some Weight This Winter

We’re going to assume you know how to keep warm—you’ve got your down parka, your work boots, your big-ass Gore-Tex hockey-style gloves. But what about for the office? There’s no reason your suit wardrobe shouldn’t be just as season-specific. Take this gray flannel suit, for instance. Not only does it have some heft; it’s got serious heritage. You won’t find a more patently American suit. Of course, if you don’t want to look so Don Draper, you can always play with underpinnings. Do like Joel here and try a faint pink for your dress shirt instead of the standard typing-paper white. Brown lace-ups always go great with gray (and don’t look as federal agent as black lace-ups do). And finally, no matter which suit you opt for in this story, invest in at least one wool tie.
